Intake Configuration
Configure inherent risk drivers, vendor inventory fields, and enrichments for Clarative Intake.
Overview
Section titled “Overview”Clarative Intake automates the initial vendor risk assessment by running AI research agents in parallel, then synthesizing their findings with your intake survey and vendor documents. The result is:
- Draft inherent risk scores across every risk category you’ve configured, with explanations and cited sources
- A pre-populated vendor inventory with fields like data classification, outsourcing status, and sub-processor locations
Intake is configured from the Intake page in the sidebar, under the Configuration tab. Configuration is split into two areas: Evaluation Sources (what data feeds into the intake) and the Inherent Risk / Vendor Inventory tabs (how that data is used to generate scores and field values).
Evaluation Sources
Section titled “Evaluation Sources”The left panel of the Configuration tab shows the three evaluation sources that feed into every intake.
Vendor Documents
Section titled “Vendor Documents”Uploaded vendor documents — MSAs, SOC reports, trust center exports, etc. — are automatically included as a source for all risk drivers and inventory fields. Documents can be uploaded when starting an intake or at any point during the review.
Intake Survey
Section titled “Intake Survey”The intake survey is a configurable questionnaire sent to the requester. Survey responses are available as a source for individual risk drivers and inventory fields.
To configure the survey, click the edit icon next to Intake Survey in the Evaluation Sources panel. The Configuration tab shows how many questions are currently active.
Clarative Enrichments
Section titled “Clarative Enrichments”Enrichments are AI research agents that investigate the vendor across specific risk dimensions. When an intake runs, all enabled enrichments execute in parallel and produce structured research reports with citations. These reports are then available as sources for risk scoring and inventory population.
See Enrichments below for details on configuring them.
Enrichments
Section titled “Enrichments”Enrichments are configurable AI research agents. Each enrichment focuses on a specific risk dimension and produces a research report that can be cited by risk drivers and inventory fields.
Navigate to the Enrichments screen from the Evaluation Sources panel (click the edit icon next to Clarative Enrichments) to view and manage your enrichments.
Built-in enrichment types:
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Deep Research | Configurable tasks to research with public data, for example: the vendor’s products, size, criticality, data processing locations, and AI usage |
| Adverse Media | Configurable tasks to research with adverse media data, for example: regulatory actions, reputational issues, and compliance concerns |
| Incidents | Configurable tasks to research with Clarative’s incident data, for example: operational disruptions, outages, and security incidents |
To create a new enrichment, click + Create Enrichment and configure:
- Name — A descriptive label (e.g. “Vendor Product Deep Research”)
- Type — The research methodology used
- Scope / Instructions — What the agent should investigate
Each enrichment’s output is a structured research report with citations.
Inherent Risk Configuration
Section titled “Inherent Risk Configuration”The Inherent Risk tab lets you define risk drivers and configure scoring thresholds for each.
Risk Drivers
Section titled “Risk Drivers”A risk driver represents a dimension of vendor risk (e.g. Operational Risk, Regulatory Risk, Reputational Risk). For each driver, you configure:
- Thresholds — Text descriptions of what constitutes High, Medium, and Low risk for that category. These descriptions guide the AI’s scoring.
- Sources — Which data feeds into this driver. Vendor Documents are included automatically. You can additionally connect specific enrichments or intake survey questions as sources.
- Vendor Registry Schema — An optional AI prompt describing how to connect this driver to an existing registry field.
To add a new risk driver, click the + icon in the Inherent Risk tab. To edit an existing driver’s thresholds or sources, click the edit icon next to it.
Vendor Inventory Configuration
Section titled “Vendor Inventory Configuration”The Vendor Inventory tab lets you select which vendor registry fields to populate during intake and configure their data sources.
Adding Fields
Section titled “Adding Fields”Inventory fields are defined in the Vendor Registry Schema. Once a field is defined there, you can add it to your intake configuration. Each field you add will be populated by AI during the intake review.
Configuring Sources
Section titled “Configuring Sources”For each inventory field, you can configure which sources the AI draws from:
- Vendor Documents are included automatically
- Add specific enrichments or intake survey questions as additional sources
The AI uses all connected sources to generate a suggested field value, with citations so reviewers can verify the reasoning.
Running an Intake
Section titled “Running an Intake”Once configured, click Start Intake to kick off an intake for a vendor.
During the intake, Clarative:
- Runs all enabled enrichments in parallel
- Processes uploaded vendor documents
- Collects intake survey responses (if a survey was sent)
- Generates AI suggestions for each risk driver and inventory field
Open the Review tab to see the results. For each item, you can Accept the AI suggestion or Make Changes to override it. Each suggestion includes a written explanation and numbered citations linking to the underlying evidence.
When you’re done reviewing, click Finish Intake to lock in the results and update the vendor record.
